Questions about Brow Lift Surgery

Charlotte, Gastonia, and Shelby, NC

What can I expect during my free brow lift consultation at Southeastern Plastic Surgery?

During your consultation, the board-certified cosmetic surgeons at Southeastern Plastic Surgery will listen to your aesthetic concerns and goals. They will evaluate your facial features to ensure you are a good candidate for a forehead lift. They will discuss with you the surgical procedure, recovery time, and what you can realistically expect this surgery to accomplish. They may also discuss additional facial cosmetic procedures that can be combined with a brow lift to further enhance your facial features, or that might be a better option to address your aesthetic concerns.

Is brow lift surgery dangerous?

No. When performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon in an appropriate facility, brow lift is a very safe procedure. At Southeastern Plastic Surgery, all of our forehead lifts are performed at our private, state-of-the-art, AAAASF-certified surgical center. This allows us greater control over precautionary and safety measures. Like all surgeries, a brow lift comes with surgical risks including excessive bleeding, infection, anesthesia reactions, and blood clots. Our experienced surgical staff and surgeons take every precaution necessary to reduce any of these complications.

Your brow lift may have additional complications such as loss of sensation, itching along the incision or incisions, hair loss, and restricted facial movement. These problems are almost always temporary and can usually be dealt with by following post-surgery advice.

How long does recovery from a forehead lift take?

Recovery from any surgery is an entirely individual process. In most cases, you can expect to have some discomfort and swelling for one to two weeks. Your surgeon can help you manage this pain with prescription pain relievers.

In general, normal activities can be resumed within ten days and strenuous activities can start again after one month. Taking enough time to rest immediately following your surgery can greatly reduce your overall healing period.

Are the results from a brow lift immediate?

The results of your forehead lift may be apparent right after surgery. However, swelling and bruising are typical in the weeks after your procedure and may work to obscure your results. Some patients may continue to have mild swelling for up to six months.

Are the results from a brow lift permanent?

A forehead lift produces a youthful, smooth appearance, but cannot make you immune to the process of aging. Lifestyle choices can impact how long your results last. Eating a healthy diet, getting plenty of exercise, and avoiding smoking will all help lengthen the results of your brow lift. With proper skin care, and healthy choices, your results can last for several years.
