Preparing for Breast Augmentation Surgery
Charlotte, Gastonia, and Shelby, NC
Once you have scheduled your breast augmentation surgery, you will be provided with instructions regarding the weeks and days leading up to the procedure. You will schedule a pre-op appointment, in which you and your surgeon will finalize the type of breast implant to be used, as well as breast enhancement placement options. The pre-op appointment is an ideal time to have your remaining questions and concerns addressed, so be sure to voice them.
To prepare for surgery, stop using tobacco products and anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen and aspirin. Your breast surgeon will provide you with specific instructions at your pre-op appointment. Other ways to get ready for breast augmentation surgery include:
- At home, stock up on foods that are easy on the stomach, and arrange music, movies and books to enjoy while you recover.
- Arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you for the 24 hours following your breast augmentation.
- The day of surgery, use antibacterial soap on the surgical area.
- Do not eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight the night before your breast augmentation.
- To alleviate post-op discomfort, wear a loose fitting button-up blouse on your surgery day.
